Rose-Colored

Saliha Yılmaz often explores the theme of transformed urban individuals, depicting forms that are identity-less and do not belong to any specific place. In this series, the deteriorated states of individuals become the structures in her artworks, inviting the viewer into a world that is both familiar and foreign.

The ceramic sculptures, which she is exhibiting for the first time and adding to her portfolio, take the form of humanoid, plant-like, building-like, and animal-like creatures with undefined identities and genders. In the narrative cycle created by the artist, concepts such as family, individuality, identity, and belonging, which we unquestionably accept, deserve to be reconsidered.

In her canvas and lightbox works, the artist uses poses similar to the photos we share based on moments when we feel that everything is impeccably perfect and beautiful in today's world. These creatures, composed of visual representations of the human body created through the fiction or illusion of the flawless beauty perception, offer the pleasure of diversity and the appreciation of the different.
