The Biography of Roots

Ahmet Duru, in his works, generally explores the relationship between nature and the city. However, this time, he takes a closer look at the home-living space within the city and nature. With the placement of three-dimensional house sculptures inside glass domes in his new series, we see that he starts questioning the concepts of protection and being protected.

Within the fast-paced urban life influenced by social, political, and socio-cultural conditions, nature within the city reveals its resistance to protection and being protected, drawing strength from its own roots. Nature, as an ecological balance, withdraws itself into a state of rest during the winter, presenting itself as a rebirth with the arrival of spring in our living space. As nature tries to adapt to the environment we live in over time, the artist reflects on the weakened and powerless life process of nature from its roots through his works.
