Fragile

Starting from the idea that "what makes us who we are is what we experience and the values they bring to us," Rengin Altınalmaz explores the answers to the questions: "Will we continue to lose with our broken pieces, or will we learn to live with them, repairing them and adding golden values to ourselves?" Working as a graphic designer and art director for many years, Rengin Altınalmaz continues her production in various disciplines, from painting to sculpture, collage to video. As a multidisciplinary artist, she brings together different materials in her artworks. Focusing on Kintsugi, a Japanese art that repairs broken pieces with gold, considering flaws as a value, the artist narrates fragility through figures, nature, or abstract images. Altınalmaz achieves a new dimension through the volume and light reflections obtained by using materials such as glass pieces, sand, and stones.
