Work Planes

The artist primarily works on computer-based visualization. He explores how visuals of this kind can be related to photographic representations, specifically through various representational methods concerning the relationship between an object and its numerical or physical models. In Egemen Tuncer's first series, which is positioned between documentary and fictional photography, the works are created by re-stacking and photographing various office supplies in their natural and partly messy states observed in the artist's immediate surroundings. The series, turning the workspace itself into a model, presents not a direct representation of the original scene but the representation of its model. Another series by the artist consists of CGI (computer-based imagery) works, where the primary focus or imitation is directly the artist's studio. In both series, besides the reenactment of existing scenes, another common point is the utilization of easily accessible and purchasable objects found anywhere. In a sense, the works, which could be called stereotypical still life visuals, generally do not require a text or title that contextualizes the photograph. The works, which are reminiscent of memorized or quite familiar scenes, use readily available objects.
