Defense of Space

The artist's focus revolves around family dynamics. Figures depicted in their private spaces provide clues to various relationships through degrees of closeness, generational differences, and body language. Inspired by the jarring monotony and utter ordinariness of daily life, the artist unveils the realities of the household in their created universe. Preferring graphite on paper as the production method, the artist occasionally incorporates vivid color blocks. Colored and semi-transparent materials like acetate or nylon-coated paper are collaged in a way that sometimes emphasizes a form while serving a plastic concern at other times. The artist excludes portraiture, capturing the characters and expressions of household members by focusing on specific body sections. This invites the viewer to either observe figures arranged like pearls or witness their moments of "being themselves."
