In Pursuit of Lost Time

"...When we relive a memory taken from a different year, through the vast surfaces of the colossal oblivion, we find an incompatibility between two memories, akin to a gap caused by the difference in height, which cannot be compared with the coloring of the surroundings by the breathed air," says Proust, and continues, "memories bathed by the mind" indicate that memories are a recreation of the past. Remembering is often possible through metaphors. Humans approach memory with various traces, metaphors. Sometimes, we remember with a place, a smell, a sound, and occasionally turn it into a defense mechanism that we use to heal ourselves. Bergson says, "Even if we don't remember, images survive." The mind that remembers through encounters almost reproduces itself and bends the past, giving it a new form. Through memory, the past reproduces itself in the "now." With this video series, named after Proust's work "In Search of Lost Time," the artist aims to understand the nature of the experience of remembering and forgetting in an aesthetic context.
