Window Shopper

Born in 1994 in Istanbul, Rash encountered graffiti and hip-hop culture in 2005. In his early years, he engaged in wall works and graffiti on train lines in various parts of Europe, primarily in Istanbul. In 2017, without disconnecting from public spaces, he transitioned his works to different surfaces, emphasizing color and form-focused abstract works referencing traditional graffiti through formal transformation. Continuing his street and studio production in parallel, Rash unifies his practice under the headings of urban art and post-graffiti.

In the "#1wall" exhibition titled "Windows Shopper," the artist reimagines shop shutters, which he frequently encounters on the streets, in a studio setting. Using visual codes he developed in street applications, he brings them together through a collage technique. Displaying works produced with outdoor references in indoor spaces and gallery showcases, the artist makes a reference to the concept of "window shopping," an activity of watching showcases without any obligation, for a momentary relaxation.
