A Love Story

Selin Tahtakılıç’s #1wallexhibition entitled “A Love Story” approaches the complexity and diversity of human relationships with a fairy-tale-like narrative. Delving into the depths of relationships she has witnessed or personally experienced in daily life, Tahtakılıç adopts a playful style towards contemporary relationship dynamics. Drawing from personal observations and experiences, the artist aims to present the audience with a modern love story.

While addressing themes such as love, friendship, and family relationships, the artist also touches upon the human psyche and dynamics of relationships. By exploring topics like the need for solitude, detachment from the external world, establishing healthy connections, harmony, expectations, and disappointments, Tahtakılıç creates a platform for the audience to reflect on their own relationships.

The artist often prefers the technique of embroidery in her works, using it to reinterpret children’s tales. Through these tales, she conveys the traces of relationships she has experienced and observed internally.
