Eye Contact

Büyükdere35 glades to announce one of the Doğuş Group’s primary social investments in the culture and arts field, which is going to be in sight, İrem Yükselbilgili’s 1wall exhibition, “Eye Contact.” Artists' works made with plant-based soap, imitation leather, and artificial wool can be visited at Büyükdere35 between June 25 and July 28.

Yüksekbilgili’s works examine animal matters and point out the destruction caused by humans. The domination oriented by this matter highlights the meta concepts that pressure the bodies of animals, the human race's dominance on the idea of which species we should love or which species we should eat, and using animals as a source of profit.

The artist takes over the Büyükdere35’s storefront with her two works, which center on animal matters. One of her installations, “The Dominance of Constitutionalism ’, showcases five months of the artist's perspective of her volunteer acts for the treatment process of the farm animals affected by fire in Antalya, Manavgat.

In the process, Yüksekbilgili bonds with animals that she contacts for the first time. Through this bond, she highlights the matter of animals not being an object of consumption. This work refers to the animals that lost their lives in the fire and human-made factors.
