ZEYNEP KAYNAR

Zeynep Kaynar (b. 1992, Samsun, Turkey) works on semi-abstract and abstract visual language by adapting typography and design methods as tools in her visual art studio practice. She is an independent visual artist living and working in Finland.

Kaynar has a list of selected exhibitions and publications, including her upcoming solo exhibitions at Kulttuuritalo Laikku, Finland, Helsinki: Myymälä2. She also participated in group exhibitions in Istanbul, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Denmark. Her works were featured in a publication published in December 2020 under the title Practice Sharing in the SAR (Society of Artistic Research) Catalog by Emma Cocker, Alexander Damianisch, Cordula Daus and Lena Séraphin and at the conference at Aalto University. In 2021, Kaynar will be exhibiting at Alli ja Allan Salon Erillisrahasto from Tampere Visual Artists Association; She has received various European Union grants and support for participating in residencies and productions of works, including a STEP Travel Grant from the European Cultural Foundation in 2018.

Zeynep Kaynar holds a master's degree from the University of Tampere, focusing on workplace pedagogy within the framework of Education, Training and Curriculum design and Organizational Learning. She completed this degree in 2023. He also holds a Master's degree in Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design and also spent time as a visiting graduate student at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA.

Kaynar is a member of various organizations such as Globe Art Point, Finnish Visual Artists Association, Tampere Visual Artists Association and Tampere Intercultural Art Cooperative. She also serves as the Tampere Cultural Ambassador for the International House of Tampere. She has also participated in many residencies, including Taidekeskus KulttuuriKauppilan Residenssiohjelma in Oulu, Finland, and Thematic Residencies: Rural Tendencies Tested in Ghent, Belgium, and (Re)Union Network in Lisbon.
