ŞEYMA BARUT

Born in Istanbul in 1987, Şeyma Barut received her undergraduate degree from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Painting. He graduated from here in 2017. Since his student years, his paintings have taken part in many group exhibitions, fairs and projects. He currently lives in Istanbul and continues his work in his workshop there.

Barut has long been interested in the domination of society over the genders and their effects on individuals. It aims to make the viewer question that situation by referring to the current situation, what should happen or what is expected with its images. In his current works, he also focuses on subject-object-space and individual-society relations.
