Mücahit Diyar Arız
The artist’s practice centres on marine life and the ecosystems in which different species coexist. Drawing on a family background rooted in fishing, the artist approaches the sea not merely as a visual reference but as an integral part of life, labour, and continuity. Within this context, the fish emerges as a recurring symbol of life and humanity’s relationship with nature.
Through cutting, bending, hammering, and welding metal sheets, the artist transforms the material’s rigid, industrial structure into fluid, organic forms. Rather than directly representing nature, the artist draws inspiration from its movement, rhythm, balance, and modes of coexistence to develop a distinctive sculptural language.
Open to exploring different materials and their possibilities, the artist seeks to question humanity’s relationship with nature and to establish a connection between the viewer and the natural world through their work.
