ÇİĞDEM BORU

She studied Graphic Design and Photography in high school and university. Since 2010, she has taken part in many exhibitions and worked as a video artist. Coordinated EU photography projects on different ethnic groups/cultures and children. She made an experimental short film in the village where she spent her childhood. The film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. Participated in “Lockdown & Locked”, a digital video project about domestic violence with 60 artists from around the world. The video was selected and screened by various film festivals around the world. She won the best poster award at the Barcelona Film Festival with her photograph. Recently, she has been working on a documentary series about LGBTQ+ artists from different countries and cultures struggling to be themselves.

She photographs stories, portraits and objects about emotions, women and children. Shows a different perspective on issues than her own. Sometimes she reflects fear, trauma or emotion directly, and sometimes she distorts the form with her own perspective.

Alongside her artistic career, she runs her own graphic design and photography studio in East London, serving commercial branding and photography clients.
