BELMİN PİLEVNELİ

Belmin Pilevneli, born in Istanbul in 1990, is a painter and illustrator. She completed her undergraduate degree in Visual Communication and Communication Design at Sabancı University, and her master's degree in MA Illustration and Visual Media at the London College of Communication. Before moving to London to pursue her master's degree, she worked as a graphic designer and illustrator in Istanbul. Her career took a new artistic direction after moving to London. She participated in various art fairs and exhibitions in London, such as the London Illustration Fair 2016, First Thursdays – UAL Takeover 2017, and Tribe 17 – International Art Fest. She also exhibited in the collaboration between UCLH (University College London Hospital) and House of Illustration titled 'Lost and Found'. Her first solo exhibition titled "Are You in Love?" was held at Galeri Miz in Istanbul in 2018, followed by another solo series titled 'Love Me, Love Me' at the Shipton Street Gallery in London. Her works have been exhibited in group exhibitions and fairs in London, Istanbul, and Ankara, including Contemporary Istanbul, Pilevneli Gallery, Art Ankara Contemporary Art Fair (with Galeri FE), Step Istanbul, Işık Okulları (with PG Art Gallery), and Soho House Istanbul.

Recently, she launched the brand Belmin Pilevneli Studio, which started printing her art on silk alongside fine art prints. With this brand, she aims to make her work more wearable and accessible to people. Many of her works reflect themes of privacy, emotions, the purity of love, history, and cultural diversity, often accompanied by her own poems and writings. She uses various techniques such as embossing, acrylic, ink, and digital collage. She typically depicts her desired themes through abstract forms and descriptions.
