Aleyna Gökdemir

Graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, the artist and designer comes from a sculpture and textile background. Her artistic practice questions the layered structure of the self and the individual’s relationship with their own existence through everyday objects. At the center of her production lies the reconstruction of ordinary objects that have lost their original function, alongside forms that bear witness to childhood memory.

Gökdemir’s practice opens up a field of ontological tension through the transformation of objects: unopened matryoshkas and melting surfaces simultaneously embody the individual’s desire both to conceal and to become visible. The artist approaches the object not merely as an everyday form, but as a representational space oscillating between memory, identity, and bodily confinement.
