
Saliha Yılmaz
Born in Balıkesir in 1985, Saliha Yılmaz graduated from Balıkesir Fine Arts High School Painting Department. She completed her undergraduate education in Yeditepe University Plastic Arts Department with a double major program with the Department of Fashion and Textile Design. She completed her master’s degree in the Plastic Arts Department of the same university with her thesis on “Intermediate Creatures, Unidentified Forms”. The artist, whose work has been in many group exhibitions, opened her last solo exhibition in Gallery Merkür in 2020.
In her ceramic sculptures and paintings; she associates the concepts of identity, gender and alienation with urban life and nature. She describes the alienation of humans in her works through the metaphors of flowers, plants, animals and buildings. The artist, who participated in artist residency programs in various places such as England, China and Turkey, lives and produces in Istanbul.
