Hilal Can

My works are reflections of my own life journey and past experiences. It feeds from a high demand for individuality and its paradoxes. Unresolved knots, paradoxes, and deep-sleeping anxiety structs my production phase. It feeds from psychological encounters of modern man on his way to being an individual. In this working process, which I find mostly healing, the questions for which I seek answers seep out of my unconscious mind, and it appears on the surface in front of me and in the material in my hand.

The changing reality that surrounds me, the geographies I live and experience, the external reality to which I am exposed, formed by my past and continuing to form. The conflict of the inner reality led me to the search for other reality/realities.

My working process that I have not left since my childhood also shows that I fell into Life – which I previously thought to be a miracle, now I find logical – can only be understand with the tools of self-knowledge that I found important in the way of being an individual. There are people who have shaped my journey deeper into being / Ich_bin with different psychologies.

In my art practice that continues to flow in front of me, I didn’t separate the disciplines and art practices that I like.They were all different parts of the same reality in the end and they continue to merge.
