Gülay Er
She was born in 1962 in Kırklareli. She graduated from Marmara University Atatürk Education Faculty Painting and Graphics Department. She worked as an art director in various advertising agencies for a long time. Continuing her career as a painting teacher, the artist continues her painting studies at Atelier Altamira.
Gülay Er, “Departing from the two-way relationship between the Abstract and the Concrete, the Real and the Imaginary, subjectivizes the daily relationship we establish with the world of objects on a plane where the real approaches the dream and the concrete approaches the abstract. Objects take on a new line, color, texture and pattern with the associations they create in Er’s mind. While the real becomes the object of the imagination, the concrete is abstracted. The boundaries between reality and fantasy, concrete and abstract, are blurring. As a landscape or figure’s connection with reality weakens, its connection with imagination becomes stronger. However, the sense of reality is not completely lost; It changes in the subjectivity of Er. The audience begins to twist the truth from where Er left off. What the imagination transforms is no longer a concrete reality, but a certain abstracted reality.
