David Doğan Levi

I was born in İstanbul at the beginning of the 90’s. The city was so hyped for me at those times. And I was spending my time, skating and making graffiti with friends. Also, I spent all my summer on an island (Büyükada). This was balancing me between two different lifestyles. This made me discover so many things happening in the streets and nature at a young age. I was so curious and excited to explore the unseen, unexplored without any intention of waiting to grow up. My inclination towards painting was noticed at my young years by my entourage and recieved my first education in this direction at renaissance art studio in 1996. Concentrating on my long decided goal during my high school years, I was also interested in design, calligraphy, philosophy, Asian art, street art, photography and architecture.

Making it a goal to build bridges between different disciplines, I studied with Ayşegül Sürek for three years. She trained me on drawing discipline. In 2010 I moved to Montpellier just after my graduation from Saint Michel High School. One of the southern cities of France. I completed my university education at the plastic arts department of Paul Valery University in 2015. I participated in many art events and collective exhibitions during my university years, also organized independent exhibitions, museum tours,art and philosophy conferences. I was interested in performances/happenings that aimed to examine the city and neighborhood in sociological terms during my school years. In 2013, I founded the design studio Lifeistco. Using my designs as a tool on my journey with the idea of wearable art. I also organized social responsibility projects focusing on current issues, the environment, sustainability, and stray animals. I am currently working in my studio in İstanbul,Kadıköy.
