MELİS ERDEM

Melis Erdem, who completed her undergraduate degree in Interior Architecture in Istanbul and her master's degree in Retail Design in Barcelona, ​​returned to Istanbul in 2017 to develop her projects in the field of art and design, after 2 years of collaborations. Contrary to the disciplined technical attitude brought by architectural education; In her paintings and sculptures, she works with complex figures to highlight and interpret the flaws of life. In her paintings and sculptures, she focuses on finding balance in chaos and gently accepting the natural cycle of processes such as deterioration/obsolescence and decay. In her productions supported by using unwanted and abandoned materials, she aims to give these objects a different form by shaping new compositions and separating them from their usage areas in daily life.
